On July 21, 2020, Rosina Bierbaum made a presentation to the GEF’s taskforce on COVID-19. Dr. Bierbaum started off by summarizing the increased evidence suggesting the linkages between infectious disease outbreaks, deforestation, biodiversity loss, and the release of viruses stored in permafrost and ice shields.

At a virtual retreat on 1 April 2020, Rosina Bierbaum, the STAP Chair, made a presentation to the GEF agencies on how STAP and the GEF secretariat screen for climate risk in reviewing GEF projects. This exemplified what STAP and the GEF secretariat look for in response to the four questions on climate risk in STAP's screening guidelines (June 2018):

The open session of the bi-annual STAP Meeting was held in connection with the 54th GEF Council and 6th GEF Assembly Meetings in Da Nang, Viet Nam. The meeting was held in the Ariyana Ballroom 1A, Ariyana Convention Center, on the grounds of the Furama Resort. The open session featured the following list of  presentations, with discussions on: Climate Risk Screening, Environmental Security, Circular Economy, and Local Commons; Global Benefits. 

The open session of the bi-annual STAP Meeting was held in the World Bank's Main Complex, 1818 H Street, NW, conference room, MC7-100, Washington, DC, and featured presentations and discussions on: the Science of Integrated Approaches, Socio-Economic Impacts of Protected Areas, and Climate Risk Screening.
