On May 4, 2023, the STAP and the GEF Secretariat delivered a virtual workshop on knowledge management and learning (KM&L) in the GEF-8 Integrated Program platforms.
Dr. Rosina Bierbaum, the chair of the Scientific and Technical Advisory Panel (STAP) to the GEF, made a presentation on STAP’s guidance and advice on climate change adaptation.
As the GEF-8 Integrated Programs are established, with a universal ambition to be transformative, it is important to be clear on what transformation is and how to monitor it in ways that can assist with rapid learning and adaptive management.
On May 5-6, 2021, STAP held a virtual workshop on Business and Mainstreaming Biodiversity to examine biodiversity mainstreaming from the business perspective, with a view at how the GEF could promote nature-positive development in concert with the private sector. Rosina Bierbaum, STAP Chair; John Donaldson, STAP Member for biodiversity; and Tom Lovejoy, STAP Senior Advisor, co-chaired this event, which included participants from the private sector, academia, civil society and the GEF partnership.

On July 9, 2020, Rosina Bierbaum, Chair of STAP, chaired an event entitled, "Webinar: The Journey of the Global Environment Facility: Delivering Transformational Change". The event took the form of a conversation between Naoko Ishii, outgoing GEF CEO and Chairperson, and her successor, incoming GEF CEO and Chairperson, Carlos Manuel Rodriguez. On July 21, 2020, Rosina Bierbaum made a presentation to the GEF’s taskforce on COVID-19. Dr. Bierbaum started off by summarizing the increased evidence suggesting the linkages between infectious disease outbreaks, deforestation, biodiversity loss, and the release of viruses stored in permafrost and ice shields.
